As we were  leaving Mandalay, these young nuns with their pink and saffron robes reflected in a puddle caught my eye.

A little further along this group appear to be lining up at the beauty parlor.

The Shan plateau, heading towards Maymyo-Pyin U Lwin.   Our driver Thi Ha was provided by Radiant Tours who booked all our flights and hotels for the trip.  He was a steady driver, spoke good English and had a great sense of humour.   It was a pleasant journey in a good car,  We rode is some smelly old boneshakers but not this day.

The roads to Maymyo were not good but better than expected.   Beyond Maymyo the road is privately owned all the way to the border with China. It twists and turns and Climbs  though the mountains  reminding us of the Friendship Highway between China and Tibet.  The profit from the toll booths has ensured the road is maintained and upgraded.
