The knot is tied, literally.  The brides mother had just wrapped her daughters wrist with string and slipped a monetary gift under it.  She would be followed by many more and eventually both bride and groom would have a small nest egg attached to their wrists.

I was wearing a similar string sans money, given me the night before at the ballet as Baci, a welcome and wish for the wearers happiness.  I think it is also given when someone is going on a journey.

The groom had seemed ill at ease throughout but finally relaxed.

Meanwhile we had learned that his father was a well known restaruanteur in town and the kitchens of many a restaurant had been cooking the wedding feast all day.

The bride was from a far Northern province on the Chinese border and they had had another ceremony in her home town the day before.

The only thing we didn't know was how much it cost but I am sure someone would have told us if we had only had the nerve to ask.

The bride and groom had been patiently standing outside waiting for quite some time.

Men don't wear their national dress on a daily basis as they do in Bhutan and the groom looked as if he would rather be anywhere but where he was.  In his discomfort he looked younger than his bride.

But things were almost ready, the tables set, the lights and fountain working,  just the ladder to be removed.....then everyone could eat.

Including us, we left to find a good restaurent, not difficult here.

Next morning the de-construction crew wait to be picked up along with the tables, bricks and arch.
