At first sight there may not seem like much to see around the lake but you could fill weeks seeing it.  On our morning walk we watched numerous water buffalo facing off, a snake chase a frog, the frog won, chatted to many small children and generally watched people going about their business.

Cycling is a good way to get around but take a good look at it before you rent as we saw many being pushed back to town.

Canoes are no longer allowed out on the lake, for that one needs a faster noisy motorized version.  

Rent a canoe in Nyaungshwe and enjoy the peace and quiet of life along the canals in the late afternoon.  

Flocks of egrets fly overhead just before the sun disappears behind the hills.
