There isn't much night life in Hsipaw so Porqois took us at dusk to feed the fish at the Mahamyatmuni Paya.  Some enterprising soul has set up a fish food concession and as you peer into the water you see it is a teeming mass of some of the ugliest fish you have ever seen.

Enjoy these lovely crisp notes because you will never see any in your wallet.  Although your $US must be in pristine condition with nothing written on them to be acceptable, what you get back in Kyat will often be quite disgusting,

 

 

Out and about before breakfast, (darn those 6.00am chimes)  listen for the sound of a bell as the monks go about their rounds.  Check out the Shan market.
Long processions of monks come to seek offerings of rice, produce and sometimes money.  There is no shortage of people earning merit by providing the necessities of life to large numbers of monks and nuns all over Burma.
