This eye bolt was shortened and bolted through the original furling hole with a 2" washer on top and another smaller washer underneath. The two 1/4" machine screws go through the 2" washer and are bolted to an eye strap underneath. I shortened the original luff wire, shackled it to the eye strap and lead it back to the original highfield lever. With the highfield tensioned, the deck is pulled down slightly so when the jib luff tension is applied it is taken by the wire, not by the deck.
I decided not to fit a spinnaker snout just yet but could probably use this system without the wire but with the eye bolt secured to extra deck stiffening.
