Snacks, fresh fruit and tea are served during the performance.

Make up lifts the eyes and eyebrows, thus indicating the age, sex and personality of the Character.  Status is indicated by headdress, costume and boots.

 

Naturally visitors may be made up and costumed for souvenir photos.

106 Beijing.jpg (39368 bytes) The origin of Beijing Opera dates back to 1790. A national Beijing Opera troupe being founded in 1979.  The Beijing Opera Institute of Beijing has a large repertoire and performs around the world.

Silver in Storage

There is a translation on  screens at either side of the stage but I was too caught up in the action to pay much attention.  I do however know the name of this opera.
