We soon out walk most of the visitors and are alone except for the parties of Chinese children on school outings. |
| Local farmers masquerading as Mongol warriors loved to scare us by leaping out of the watchtowers at our approach. They play their parts with such gusto that is impossible to resist the photo op. |  |
