Street Scenes

When you first step out of your air conditioned hotel and on to the streets of Bangkok  you are assaulted by the noise of the traffic, the haze of exhaust fumes and overwhelming heat.  Those who make their living at roadside stalls and traffic police, often wear masks.

Today   10% of the population lives in Bangkok and 90% of all cars are registered here.   Millions more get around on motorbikes and scooters and strange hybrid carriages such as this one.

Riding without helmets and wearing only flip flops on their feet you can't help fearing for their safety.  Crossing the road  is probably the most dangerous thing you will do in Bangkok.

Whole families ride to school together.
