Grand Palace 316.jpg (60000 bytes) On week days the palace and temples are open to the public and an admission charge is made.   On  Sundays they are open free of charge and are crowded with devout Thai's. prostrating themselves before Buddhas.  The air is heavy with the scent of flowers and burning joss sticks.   If possible visit on Sunday and a weekday.
Renovations being made to the cloister murals.  

Originally painted between 1824-1850 they have undergone several restorations.  During the 1930's the murals acquired a western influence but have since been restored to reflect  the original style.  The walls are alive with scenes of battles, intrigues and comedy.  A popular character being Hanuman, the white monkey god.
