It felt good to be driving through the countryside  on a day trip to Mount Popa.  

Most drivers will take you to visit a coconut palm plantation where palms are tapped for sap and palm sugar candy called jaggery is made.

The people here were so nice that we bought far too much  candy in fancy little baskets.  We had to give it away.

Mount Popa, 

Myanmar's Mount Olympus, home of the Gods.

From a distance we get an inkling of the climb to come.   It can't possibly be as many steps as Mandalay Hill....can it.

Popa Taungkalot

Sits on a 2500 year old volcanic plug almost 5000' above the fertile Myibgyan  Plain.
