Artisans D'Angkor

Artisans D'Angkor and the Chantiers-Ecoles train talented young people in stone and wood carving, lacquering gilding and silk weaving.  During training they receive a living allowance,  tools and clothes. Upon completion the young  artisans are offered an  internship.  

When fully qualified they may work here in Siem Reap or in their own village workshops.  They are well paid,  belong to an artisans association and have a 20% stake in the company.  

The original project was funded for three years but is now self sufficient.

If the faces of The Bayon are indeed of the God King Jayavarman VII, one would think there are enough of them, but no.  Here at the  Artisans D'Angkor workshop young men are kept busy creating more.

There are many beautiful things to be seen at the showroom in Siem Reap and to a lesser extent at the airport shops.

You can visit and have free tours of the workshops in town or drive the 16km out to the silk farm .  Tours there take you through the whole silk production process from mulberry tree to woven fabric.

Items are of good quality and the prices reflect that.
