The ladies of Pra Khan sit in the passage ways now cleared of the piles of stones which blocked them until the early 1990's  when the World Monument Fund which maintains the monument initiated a restoration project.

Angkor Thom

Devas to the left and  Asuras on the right  flank the causeways over the moat which lead to the five entry gates and towers to Angkor Thom.

They represent positive and negative and hold the serpent Vasuki in a centuries long  tug-of-war.

The faces on the towers at the gates and within The Bayon were added later, some say they resemble  the great Khmer God-King Jayavarman VII.  

As a Buddhist ruler it would not have been unusual for him to have his image used to represent the  Bodhisattva Lokesvara  guardian of the four cardinal points.
