About 30 k m south of Luang Prabang are the scenic Kuang Si Waterfalls which cascade over several layers of limestone into beautiful turquoise pools.

The falls are now on the tourist trail from Luang Prabang so you will not be alone here, but the higher you venture the more likely you are to find a quiet spot to enjoy.

 

There are trails all around the area and signage is poor but follow the sound of the falling water and you will discover this.

Be sure to see the enclosure of the Indochinese tiger Phet as you explore the trails and pathways.  

He was saved from the clutches of Chinese poaches intent on selling him on to become medicine.   

A small contribution will help with his upkeep.

You can swim in the pools or picnic in the area at the bottom of the falls.  There are of course vendors to sell you food and cold drinks.
