Sala Phae - Don Khon

We discovered the floating hotel Sala Phae while cycling around the islands 

www.salalao.com.  

We went back to out hotel on Don Det and checked out just before the noontime deadline.

Sala Phae arranged for us to be picked up and we  arrived by boat to  find the local fishermen swimming under the bungalows with harpoons.

We loved staying here.  At $22 a night it was probably the most expensive place on the islands but we felt a treat was in order.  We had a warmish shower thanks to a solar panel on the roof but no electricity other than from 6pm. to 9pm each evening.   I always knew when Tony was ordering  Smoothies at the restaurant because the generator would kick in for a few minutes.

Tony discovers what we assume to be the first swim up bar in the islands of Southern Laos and best of all it's part of the hotel.
