An area of narrow streets and  a huge modern  square in the center of the old heart of the city. 

It surrounds the Jokhang, Tibet's  oldest and holiest Buddhist temple.

Pilgrims from all over Tibet come to  perform Kora by making a walking circumambulation of the Jokhang.

Often they wear their best outfits. 

Beautiful Khampa women wear coral and turquoise  in their hair. Their men wear red braid and tassels in theirs.
